S2S bird bands with Southshore Audubon team on Long Island
S2S Executive Director Michael Cohn had the chance to go out with a team of master banders of the Southshore Audubon Society on Long Island. MIke worked with the team to safely gather birds, band them, and safely release them back into the wild. Mike is interested in becoming a master bander himself and through his contacts at Southshore Audubon, there is a path for him to earn his license. Mike’s work with Southshore is part of a larger effort to expand our American Kestrel nest box network to Long Island. S2S has been hard at work building out our American Kestrel nest box network in Virginia. Mike’s work has allowed him to approach the Southshore Audubon Society on Long Island and identify locations for new Kestrel nest boxes. S2S hopes to continue creating new habitats for the American Kestrel in New York.
