S2S delivers more Kestrel nest boxes for Manassas Network

Some of the recently finished nest boxes. These were delivered to the Morrows in preparation for installation in the coming months.

S2S is hard at work making sure we complete our objective for the Great American Kestrel Project at Manassas Battlefield Park. Mike has recently delivered another large order of boxes to Lance and Jill Morrow. Mike has one more order of boxes to prepare before final delivery in January. Once all of the Kestrel nest boxes have been delivered, final installations will begin. With the help of expects like the Morrows and Corinne Hagan, the network will be installed in time for the Kestrel breeding season in the Spring. The boxes look great, and hopefully Mike’s hard work will pay off with these new habitats hosting new Kestrel families during the breeding season. Once the breeding season begins, Lance and Jill Morrow will be banding, and S2S hopes to take groups of interested vets out to check the boxes and assist the Morrows with the banding. This will provide a great opportunity to learn more about this important species that has unfortunately fallen into decline over the past 30 years.
